About the Authorette

The authorette, the original fencepost with a bowl haircut, grew up in a lovely part of Northern Illinois called Bull Valley, where hills were just rolling enough to be noticed and creeks & woods were as plentiful as fields & farms. She rarely ever read growing up– preferring instead to play out her own stories with Barbies, Sylvanians, Ghostbusters and Muppet Babies toys, but that’s what happens when an ADD child has too much imagination for her own good. Roahl Dahl, J.M. Barrie, and Lynn Read Banks were the only authors capable of holding her enthusiasm. When the authorette turned 18 her mother gave her Haroun and a Sea of Stories, by noted author Salmon Rushdie. What happened after that book was something of a life-changing epiphany. The authorette liked to….READ?! After that she read a lot, consuming one YA (young adult) fantasy, fiction after another.

With this renewed appreciation of the written word, Authorette’s book writing truly began. As life took her in various directions, the stories never stopped. Now she has numerous novels completed, partially finished, and barely begun– all living in the secret confines of laptops and USB devices.

So now the Authorette lives in Los Angeles, California where she builds kingdoms for kids online. She has a Labrador Retriever named Willamena Fredericka, who is an apple off her momma’s tree. She has written one pop-up book and co-developed (and wrote) for a preschool book series debuting in 2008.
